Hi! I’m Victoria and I’m the Peer Support Worker for Apex and Lincoln Health Partnership.
I have spent a large portion of my career supporting students socially, emotionally, and academically, whilst simultaneously studying mental health.
I love to watch and support people to obtain their own goals and flourish, and after a couple of years I decided that I wanted to take my skill set, knowledge, and experience into the community and work with adults.
My role within Shine is supporting individuals with their own mental health challenges. A big part of that is connecting people to their community through their own likes and interests, whether that comes in the form of art classes, gardening projects, or social groups. I love the fact that within this role, I can use the challenges that I have previously been faced with to empower others. We are our own experts, and as Peer Support Workers, we can give a more personal, non-clinical understanding and support to those on their mental health journey because we’ve been there, and we really do understand.
I joined the team in July, and I can already confirm it’s an amazing role to be in. The team are fantastic, and the support has been amazing. I’m incredibly grateful to be able to be part of such an amazing team and I can’t wait to continue making a difference to the lives of others, and to watch people shine.
