Carers Week 2025

Carers Week 2025 in Lincolnshire

9–15 June | Theme: “Caring About Equality”

🎯 Why “Caring About Equality”?

This year’s theme recognises the inequality unpaid carers often experience—be it through missed job opportunities, poor health outcomes, or financial strain. Carers Week aims to highlight these challenges and drive systemic change and support.

Wellbeing, respite and social connection

Lincolnshire Carers Service and Carers First Lincolnshire have a range of informative and support for Carers including hospital discharge planning, workplace support for carers and benefit checks but they also run or have information on peer connection groups, day trips, social events and much more.

There are other small local organisations that collaborate or form their own support for carers or anyone looking to care for their wellbeing such as Black Barn Farm, Bolingbroke’s, carer’s wellbeing breaks or the Co-op’s Lincolnshire based wellbeing walks, that anyone can join free of charge.

Find more support and activities by contacting your local Community Connector and looking at listings on www.haylincolnshire.com

Practicalities

The reality of being a carer is far from having an abundance of time to join in with such groups so seek support with the day-to-day challenges by:

  • Checking you are getting all the help and benefits that you are entitled to by contacting Carers First or Carers Trust, Citizens Advice or Entitledto.com. Carers UK also have a lot of information for you regarding your rights at work as well as information for your employer or potential employer. JobCentre Plus can help you to find work whether you’re a carer or not but disclosing that you are a carer can help them help you to find the right opportunities.
  • Ensuring you are registered with your GP as an unpaid carer to benefit from more appointment flexibility, health checks and vaccinations.
  • Download the Jointly App. With this you can create a circle of care for the person you are looking after and combines group messaging and to-do lists with other useful features, including medication lists, calendar and more, all to share across the circle.
  • Taking a look at Bob’s Brainwaves and see if you can get one of their packs if you’re caring for someone with dementia. These are full of useful information regarding support as well as hints, tips and tools for helping to look after someone with dementia.
  • Seeking information about tackling the unique sleep issues carer’s face via the Lincolnshire Sleep Hub
