Join Shine Lincolnshire as a Finance Trustee

Use your financial expertise to help support mental health and wellbeing across Lincolnshire.

We are looking for a Finance Trustee to join our Board and help shape the future of Shine Lincolnshire.

Shine is a regional mental health and wellbeing charity supporting individuals, families and communities across the county. Through community support, local hubs, training and opportunities to connect, we help people live a life of value, with greater independence and choice.

As Finance Trustee, you will help ensure we have the financial stability and resources to continue this work and respond to the needs of our communities.

About the role

Working alongside fellow Trustees and our senior leadership team, you will bring financial insight to decisions about Shine’s future. Your role will include:

  • Reviewing budgets, forecasts and financial reports, helping the Board understand our financial position.

  • Supporting oversight of financial controls, risk management and long-term sustainability.

  • Advising on the financial implications of new services, partnerships and funding opportunities.

  • Contributing to the charity’s wider strategy and governance, providing support and constructive challenge.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with significant senior-level experience in finance, accountancy, audit, commercial management or a related field. You will be confident interpreting financial information, explaining it clearly and contributing to strategic discussions.

A recognised accountancy qualification and experience of charity finance or Board membership would be welcomed, but are not essential. You will share our commitment to mental health and wellbeing, inclusion and making a positive difference in Lincolnshire.

What’s involved?

  • Location: Lincolnshire, with a mixture of face-to-face and virtual engagement.

  • Time commitment: Board meetings every two months, typically six per year, alongside preparation and occasional committee meetings, strategy sessions or development activities.

  • Payment: This is a voluntary, unpaid role. Reasonable, pre-agreed expenses will be reimbursed.

  • Support: A comprehensive induction and ongoing development opportunities will be provided.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and particularly encourage those with lived experience of mental health challenges, caring responsibilities or health inequalities, and people from under-represented communities. Sharing personal experiences is entirely voluntary, and reasonable adjustments are available throughout the recruitment process.
