Hello everyone, I’m Carol and I am the new Peer Support Worker for Sleaford. I joined Shine in early September so have not long been in my post. At the moment I am completing my training and am looking forward to shadowing more experienced Peer Support Workers soon.
As an individual that lives with mental health disability, I have lived experienced of mental ill health and am on my own journey on the road to recovery. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work for Shine as a Peer Support Worker and will do all I can to support clients and to make a difference in their lives. I am looking forward to getting out into Sleaford to begin to connect with the local community and discover what support and activities already exist. Having previously worked as a psychology teacher, I am passionate about challenging the stigma and misunderstandings surrounding mental ill health. I hope to help inspire in clients the belief that it is possible to improve our mental health, to help them be seen and heard in their own journey and to help them achieve their own goals on the way to gaining greater control over their lives.
